Friday Snippets
I was just going to post snippets on Fridays. Zette suggested turning it into a thang, and opening up Friday Snippets to any writer who wants to participate. I thought that was a great idea but didn’t want to run a web-ring. Now, with the very cool Mr. Linky, you can have a link to your Friday snippet show up here, there and anywhere anyone else is participating, no web-ring involved.
There are two rules.
| RULE ONE:
Your link goes to your snippet, or to a post that links directly to your snippet. It doesn’t go to your commercial website advertisment, or to your website where there is no snippet. If you link, you actually have to post a snippet of your writing and let people read it. Anything else will be considered spamming, and will be deleted.
RULE TWO: You should leave a comment on each snippet where you leave your own link. It’s also polite to leave a comment on other snippets you read, even if they don’t offer link posting. You can frequently add your snippet link in the comment. The idea with going to each other’s sites and reading each other’s writing is to get to know each other a little–comments help that along. |
To show up here, just add your name and link to your snippet in my Friday Snippet post.
To add Friday Snippets as a meme on your own site, go to Mr. Linky, register, use the auto-wizard and set up your weblog. Then follow the directions for adding a meme, and use the Friday Snippets code—42. You’ll get the folks who sign up here, and I’ll get the folks who sign up there, and we’ll all have cool stuff to read on Fridays.
Thanks for participating. I’m looking forward to surfing snippets.
NOTE ON FREE MEMBERSHIPS:
If you can’t afford a membership, you can still add the FRIDAY SNIPPETS meme to your blog.
1. Register at Mr. Linky. (This does not cost anything.)
2. Go to http://www.blenza.com/linkies/wizard.php
3. Choose your weblog type, Original Auto-Linkies (the free ones), and the meme you want. Mine is currently all the way at the bottom of the list.
4. Copy the codes and follow the instructions.
Or if you’re running Wordpress 2.1 or above, Use the Plugin. (My preference. Much cleaner on the website, very easy to use.)
